West Point Lake is located approximately 70 miles southwest of Atlanta, Georgia and has a camping area solely dedicated as the “Volunteer Village”. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks and responsibilities including but not limited to cleaning Project campsites, collecting honor vaults, recreation area maintenance, shoreline cleanup, mowing grass at the Village, and much more.
Village volunteers also share a laundry facility, boat ramp area, and storage sheds used to house supplies. The Volunteer Village is located within 8 miles of many amenities including restaurants, banks, and grocery stores. Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older, able to work 20 hours per week per site, be physically and mentally capable of performing tasks, pass a background check, and take online defensive driving to operate a government vehicle. No persons are permitted to occupy a site other than the volunteer. Volunteers may have guests on their campsite.
