Dates: This Position is Year Round 2020
Volunteers are needed for three month terms. Volunteer park hosts ensure that the parks two entrance gates are open in the morning and secured at sunset. They conduct periodic walkthroughs of the park, greet the public and answer questions. Park hosts are needed to staff the sites Information Center on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Park hosts do not enforce regulations; however, they are expected to be additional eyes and ears of the park rangers. Park hosts may be needed to assist during emergencies. Hosts are not required to do maintenance or janitorial functions, however litter pickup, when needed, is expected. Hosts days off are either Monday to Tuesday or Tuesday to Wednesday. The Knights Ferry Recreation Area is a popular put-in spot for river rafters, and authorized for day use only. No overnight camping is available for visitors. The community of Knights Ferry is rich in history, and the host site is in view of the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi River. The bridge is open to foot traffic only.
