Park Host/At Macks Creek & Lucky Peak Lake & Dam:
Dates: (Dates Negotiable)
Come spend the summer in beautiful southern Idaho at Macks Creek Park as a Park Host! Macks Creek Park is a small day-use area and 15-site campground located on the Boise River Arm of Lucky Peak Lake, 25 miles from Boise and four miles from the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway through the Boise National Forest. During summer, the lake stretches 12 miles, with 45 miles of shoreline and over 3,000 surface acres of water.
Volunteer Duties: The Park Host primary role is to maintain reservation notices at all 15 sites and register walk-in campers to nonreserved sites. Park host will also be responsible for ensuring visitors know of all rules and regulations including all fees required depending on type of use. This park is exceptionally busy during summer with nearly all sites in the park in use each day. Hosts must be helpful and friendly when providing visitor assistance and answering questions, must report repeat violations of rules to ranger staff, and will assist with stocking supplies in three vault toilets (light cleaning duties). Occasionally, Hosts may serve as first responders and assist with emergency scenes.
This position has been best filled by couples that work as a team to cover Wednesday through Sunday, although highly motivated single applicants will be considered. This announcement recurs annually but highly successful Hosts may (and often) return additional seasons.
