About this Opportunity
Volunteer Village:
Allatoona Lake, located approximately 40 miles north of Atlanta, Georgia has a camping area dedicated exclusively to volunteers. Volunteer couples are needed for a wide variety of duties and responsibilities. Volunteer duties can include but not limited to greeting visitors that come into the Visitor Center; operating the phone system and radio; answering questions about the project; promoting water safety; manning water safety booths at fairs; assisting with administrative office work; recreation area maintenance; bluebird box installation and monitoring; building and placing fish attractors; trail maintenance; assisting with recycling program; assisting campground program; mowing and trimming; washing vehicles; boat patrols; traffic control; and much more. Volunteers do not perform maintenance or janitorial duties at the Visitor Center.
Village volunteers also share a large workshop/warehouse, two shelters, and a meeting room with a kitchen, lounge, and laundry room. The Volunteer Village is located within two miles of the Project Office and Visitor Center and within six miles of amenities including banks, post office, restaurants, and a Super Wal-Mart. Volunteers must be 21 years or older; be required to work 20 hours per week, per site; be physically and mentally capable of performing volunteer tasks; pass a background check; and take online defensive driving to operate government vehicles. No persons are permitted to occupy a site other than the volunteer team.
