About this Opportunity
Assist with planting, transplanting, watering and pruning of plants growing in the greenhouse and associated wildflower trails.
Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of the greenhouse facility including the surrounding concrete paths, floors, refuse removal, moping and scrubbing of concrete floors.
A monthly or as needed cleaning of greenhouse glass panels.
Perform basic labeling, storage, and record keeping of planting information, seed collection, and related paperwork.
Maintain .3 miles of wildflower trail and adjacent flowerbeds associated with the greenhouse. This includes weed-eating/trimming, weed pulling, bed maintenance, operation of a backpack blower and other small hand tools.
Assist Corps staff with educational programs pertaining to native plants.
Maintain flower beds located at the Wappapello Lake Visitor Center and Gatehouse areas including minor weeding and watering.
The Corps will provide all equipment and materials needed for work task completion.
Volunteer will pick up small trash mainly aluminum cans, cardboard, and plastic blown from a nearby recycling area into the wildflower area.
Volunteer should expect to work an average of 20-25 hours weekly, working 3-4 days per week.
Duties will be shared with other volunteers, working alternate work day schedules. Volunteers must be willing to rotate schedules with other volunteers to cover duties and distribute work evenly.
